What is your opinion?
During the past few weeks, a few people have asked for my opinion about the recent events and meetings that have taken place regarding the peace process in Israel and the “two state solution”.
This issue is very sensitive for many people, and emotions run high when there are discussions about Israel and the Palestinians. I understand this with all my heart and it is with great sensitivity that I write this entry, focusing on my opinion. At the same time, it is important to keep in mind that my goal with this blog is to give Followers of the Messiah a Biblical perspective of a highly charged and politicized debate, as well as a glimpse at the reality of the situation here on the ground so that believers can know how to pray according to God’s will.
I don’t believe in a two state solution. I do not find it anywhere in the Bible and I firmly believe it stands against God’s Word. I also believe that those involved with forcing Israel to surrender the heart of the land that God covenanted to the people of Israel (Judea and Samaria) in order to establish a Palestinian State there are in danger of incurring God’s wrath and judgment. The Prophet Joel proclaimed this very clearly in Joel 3:2: “I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will enter into judgment against them concerning my inheritance, my people Israel, for they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land.”
The land belongs to God and it is His sole right to declare who shall live in it. He gave the land to Israel as an inheritance, but at the same time, He also gave provision for the “alien” in the Land. That, however, is a topic for another entry. The world is trying to work out the details for how Israelis and Palestinians can live together in peace – something that is nearly impossible from a strictly human perspective.
But I propose something entirely different: Let’s approach this from God’s perspective. Our most powerful tool is to pray that the Lord will reveal His peace plan to the hearts and minds of Israel’s, the Arab nations’, and the world’s leaders. And what is God’s peace plan? That all parties involved would come to a saving knowledge of the God of Israel and His Messiah Yeshua. If we want to bring about peace in a practical way, we need pray that the Lord will bring multitudes of Palestinians and Israelis to the true peace maker, the Prince of Peace, Yeshua, the only way to find a true, lasting peace, reconciliation, and unity.
I have seen this in the lives of Israelis and Palestinians, who are friends because of the peace in their hearts, as a result of yielding to the Prince of Peace, our Messiah Yeshua. I have personally experienced this in my life as well. There is no political solution. Our only solution is to come together as Jew and Gentile, Israeli and Palestinian, in the name of Yeshua ha Mashiach (Jesus the Messiah). Only when our hearts are at peace with Him can we be at peace with one another. He is our only hope.
As a final thought, I implore you to pray for our leaders. God has allowed them to be in leadership and we need to pray for their Salvation, that they will seek Him and lead and live according to His Word. Our prayers can turn the tide of history and can spare great judgment upon our leaders and our land.
Blessings

One Comment on “What is your opinion?”
Moran,
May G-d bless and keep you as He continues to give you wisdom. Your opinion reflects your heart for seeing the Lord’s will done here on this earth. The “world” doesn’t have an answer, it can only be found in the Savior of “all” men, Our Messiah.
In Him,
Cheryl
