Psalm 122:1: A Final Thought

“A Psalm of ascents to David. I was glad by those who say to me ‘To the House of the Lord we will go’” Psalm 122:1

As a final thought on verse 1 of Psalm 122, I want to explore what David means when he writes he was “glad by those who say to [him] ‘To the House of the Lord we will go’”. In my opinion, David was expressing how blessed he was when like-minded people came to him, asking him to join them as they went to the place where the LORD dwelled.

We live in a day and age where the love of many is growing cold. Here in Israel, it is not so popular to be a follower of Yeshua the Messiah, and the fact is, that while yes, the Body of Messiah in Israel is growing, we are still a very small minority within the country.  That means that finding like-minded people is not easy.

During the past years, I have had the great honor to witness a wonderful miracle of young believers from about 10 different local Congregations in Jerusalem, coming together on a weekly basis, to worship the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob together. The reality is that these youth come from Congregations, ranging from the most “charismatic” to the most “conservative”.  When they come together, there is always great joy and love between them. When the worship starts, I see amazing unity in the worship. The joy is in the great honor of coming together to worship the one true God.

He alone is the focus of the group, and we aim to put Him in the center of our midst. We look at our love for Him as that which we all have in common, and we find it is a great joy to join together and worship Him in unity.

Allow me to encourage those of us who love the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, His Son, and His city, Jerusalem, to join hands, and come together as His Body. We need one another, and as a reminder, Yeshua gave us a new command in John 13:34:

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.””

It is always a joy to fellowship with like-minded people, who share the same heart for the LORD, and who worship Him together in His presence.  I greatly look forward to the day we will worship Him together when His Temple eternally.

Shabbat Shalom,

Moran
