Holiness: The First Step …

Holiness: The First Step …

Recently, I was invited to speak to a large group of people in Europe. Before my speaking, I was told that they believe in God, believe in living holy lives, and yet they also believe that they will never be “good enough” for God and so they are doomed to hell. My heart was very heavy for these people who I believe truly love the Lord, but have completely missed the message of true salvation, which is Yeshua:

“…that if you confess with your mouth, ‘Yeshua is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Rom 10:9

The Word of God is very clear about the fact that we cannot be saved by our own merit; we cannot do anything by our works to bridge the gap between us and God because we are sinful by nature. The first step to salvation is to believe and accept the atonement that God has provided for us as a “free” gift in order for us to receive eternal life with the Father.

The reason I wrote “free” in quotations is that very often we as followers of the Messiah forget that this wonderful gift of salvation has come with a very heavy price that our Messiah had to pay for each of us. However, again, once we accept it, then we enter into a life long experience in growing and learning how to become Holy.

These people to whom I spoke are right about the fact that there is nothing they can do in order to be saved and that we all fall short of the Glory of God.  However, they are missing the entire purpose of the death of our Messiah, which came from God’s perfect and deep love for us who were lost to Him because of our sin:

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16

This eternal life is a precious gift that brings salvation through faith and acceptance of the perfect atonement of the Messiah’s blood, thus giving us the first step to live holy lives every day:

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.  For we are God’s workmanship, created in Messiah Yeshua to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Eph 2:8-10

Are you ready to take the first step?

  1. Very true. i find it interesting and sad that people wont accept the gift of salvation . it is really so simple and yet they will go so far and not go ” all the way” To me it would be like getting ready to go swimming, getting in your swimming trunks and looking forward to the swim and then standing on the edge of the pool and never jumping in.

The cost of the gift of salvation could not have been higher, and yet it is so simple to accept.

  2. Yes, true enough, what Jesus did, He sanctified us, He is our sanctification, He completed it for us. It is of the fact that He changed us, daily we walk in Him in the newness of our heart, maybe we can’t walk perfectly like Him, though, it remains our goal to be like Him, to walk according to what He designed us to be when we accepted Him. Glory to His all pre-eminent Name !

  3. Hi Moran,

I am so bold as to say people, everywhere around the world haven’t gotten the real message behind the words of Yeshua or the deeds and happenings taking place… By Gods will, for His purpose, to help and guide us back upon His path of salvation. By enableing His Son to do what needed to be done, so He could do what only He can do. For all to see and save man_kind

The Lord gives knowledge (and wisedome) by His Holy Ghost, through His Spirit )Ru´ach) He lets one know what He wants you to know, tell, do, or were to go.

I met you on your tour. It is a good thing you are doing.
I wrote you a letter too.

Until we see one and other again…, May the Lord keep you save and write His Words in your heart as He has done in mine. My He guide you and keep you save.
