This past week in Israel was a very difficult one. It started with an attack on an Israeli Army base near Gaza, continued with the kidnapping of one Israeli soldier, then a young Israeli man was kidnapped as well and later he was murdered. As a result the Israeli Army is now back in Gaza and the tension in the area is very, very high.
My heart is saddened as I see the pictures of one more family who has lost their dear one, when I see the Israeli Army back in Gaza, when I think of the mothers who don’t sleep at night as they worry for their children who are in the front lines. I grieve for the families in the Gaza area who live in constant fear of being bombed and finally when I think of the people who live in Gaza who are victims of fanatic people — people who are being used by the enemy who try to destroy God’s plan.
What can we the Body of Messiah do? How should we respond?
I am reminded by the beautiful words from the Book of Isaiah:
“How lovely on the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who announces peace And brings good news of happiness, Who announces salvation, And says to Zion, “ “Your God reigns!” Is 52:7
It is very important for us followers of Messiah to step us and bring to the people of this hurting world the Good News that there is hope for peace, that there is a way the one man can live in true peace with its neighbor. But before one man can live at peace with his neighbor first one man needs to be at peace with God. The only way to be at true peace with God is through faith in Yeshua the Messiah. It is written in John 14:6 “Yeshua said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.”
The people in the World are so focused on the blood that is shed on the streets all over the world — blood that brings division, anger, hatred, and unforgiveness. God called us His followers to focus on His blood, the blood that was shed for you and me, the blood that brings healing and peace – the blood of our Messiah.
We need to pray not only for the “peace of Jerusalem” but for the salvation of all people who live in Israel. The true peace that Messiah brings to us will only come when the people who live in Israel will turn their eyes back to God.
God told us that when the Children of Israel will turn to Him and repent of their sins, that He will hear us and come and heal this hurting land.
“ and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chr 7:14
If we truly want to see true peace in Israel, we need to pray for the children of Israel to turn back to God. We need to stand together as One Body and proclaim the Good News of the peace of Messiah.
