In my last blog, God Affirms His Promises to Jacob, we learned about Jacob’s amazing dream from Genesis 28:10-15:
“Then Jacob departed from Beersheba and went toward Haran. And he came to a certain place and spent the night there, because the sun had set; and he took one of the stones of the place and put it under his head, and lay down in that place. And he had a dream, and behold, a ladder was set on the earth with its top reaching to heaven; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. And behold, the LORD stood above it and said, “I am the LORD, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie, I will give it to you and to your descendants. “Your descendants shall also be like the dust of the earth, and you shall spread out to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and in you and in your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed. “And behold, I am with you, and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” Genesis 28:10-15
No doubt this was indeed an amazing dream. God’s endless, amazing grace and faithfulness to His children are so evident in it. However, something else is revealed in the next verse (Gen. 28:16):
“Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely there is a LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.””
Jacob received a profound, life-changing revelation of God’s existence; not only that, but Jacob also understood that the LORD is in control over all, that all belongs to Him, and that He was present in that place.
This is a crucial component of our individual walk with the LORD. My dear brothers and sisters, in order for one to know God and to know
the will of God, one must first have Jacob’s revelation. It is only when you have that revelation, and then choose to submit to Him and to His sovereign will, that you can truly know God’s unconditional and endless promises.
I exhort each one of my readers to search your heart and see if you indeed received the revelation that Jacob had. If yes, then what does it mean for you? How has your understanding of the Almighty affected your daily life? If not, I encourage you to ask the LORD for it, and seek Him with all your heart. He is ready and willing to give it to you in abundance.
Shabbat Shalom,
Moran
