Why Did God Choose Israel? (Part 2)

In part one of my blog, Why Did God Choose Israel?, I wrote, “…the Lord chose Israel not because of their size, their talent, or their beauty; rather, simply because He loved them, and because they were the least of all peoples, He chose to demonstrate His amazing grace through them. Not only did He demonstrate His grace, but also his everlasting faithfulness to His promises and His word. He eventually revealed His Son, Yeshua, through the Jewish people. In essence, God chose to reveal His very self through the nation of Israel!

This concept of being chosen due to God’s love, grace, and faithfulness is a hard concept for many to understand. While it is indeed a great privilege and honor, it is also a great responsibility to belong to the King and to be His ambassadors. As He said in the first part of the verse (Deut. 7:6-8), He has chosen us to be His own possession. This introduces a new concept, which is that through us He can manifest His love, grace, and faithfulness.”

I want to raise an important issue that many people within the Body of Messiah ignore, whether out of ignorance or choice. At the same time, I will also connect it to the Passover season, which we are now entering. There are many today who consider themselves followers of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who claim that the modern State of Israel is not a fulfillment of prophecy, and that because of Israel’s disobedience and unfaithfulness to God, He is simply finished with them. The irony is that these same people fail to recognize that through the reestablishment of the Children of Israel (the Jewish people) in the Land of Promise, God Himself is glorified!

Jeremiah said it in a wonderful way when he prophesied that, ““Therefore behold, days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when it will no longer be said, ‘As the LORD lives, who brought up the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt,’ but, ‘As the LORD lives, who brought up the sons of Israel from the land of the north and from all the countries where He had banished them.’ For I will restore them to their own land which I gave to their fathers.” Jeremiah 16:14-15

My dear brothers and sisters, this prophecy is being fulfilled in our lifetime! We have the great honor to live in times where we witness the fulfillment of some of the greatest promises God ever made! Indeed, God has restored the sons of Israel to their own land which He gave to their fathers. And He continues to do so even to this day, with the number of Jewish people returning to Israel from the Nations increasing each month.

My brothers and sisters, the purpose of this blog entry is to encourage you that the same God who is bringing His children back to His land as He promised, is indeed the same God in which you have placed your trust! He is proving over and over again that He is loving, gracious, and faithful to the very end.

Looking at the miracle of the reestablishment of the Jewish people in the land of Israel ought to be a great encouragement to you; our God is faithful and we can rest in such a great assurance of His endless love, grace, and faithfulness.

Shabbat Shalom,

Moran
