התנדבות והשפעה

 השבוע התכבדנו לארח את ליאור במפגש קבוצת הנוער. ליאור הינו צלם מקצועי שצילם מספר ארגונים ברחבי העולם שמטרתם לצאת ולעזור לאנשים שנפגעו מאסונות טבע. ליאור הגיע לנריה במטרה לעורר אותנו לחיים של התנדבות, שירות, והשפעה ובעיקר לאתגר אותנו לצאת מהמקום הנוח שלנו ולהושיט יד לכל מי שזקוק לעזרה באשר הוא.

כל אחד מאיתנו מגיב לרוע שמתרחש בעולם בצורה שונה. יש אנשים שמעלימים עין ומביטים לכיוון אחר, אחרים יורדים על הברכים ומתפללים, יש אחרים שמפרסמים קריאות לעזרה ותפילה בפייסבוק אך נותרים בחיבוק ידים. עוד סוג של אנשים מגיבים לרוע בעולם בפחד, חרדה ובכי.

יש אחוז קטן באוכלוסיה שאינו מוכן לקבל את הרוע בעולם ורוצה לעשות שינוי ולא רק במילים, כי אם גם במעשים. האחוז הקטן הזה מוכן לשים את הנוחיות שלו בצד כדי לעזור למישהו בצורך והנכונות הזו לצאת ועשות היא דבר מדהים, דבר שעושה ויעשה שינוי בארץ, בעולם ובך! כי כשאנחנו נותנים גם בנו מתרחש שינוי. באופי של אותו אחוז קטן של האוכלוסיה מוטבעת אכפתיות חזקה לחלש. אותו אחוז רוצה לעזור ולאהוב את אלו שצריכים עזרה ואהבה גם אם מדובר באויבים שלהם. אותם אנשים עוזבים הכל ויוצאים לכל מקום בו התרחש אסון כדי להציל חיים, ולעזור לנזקקים.

בתור התלמידים של ישוע מוטלת עלינו החובה להיות האחוז הקטן הזה! יש כוח גדול בתפילה ומתן תרומות לנזקקים ולחלשים, אך עלינו להיות מוכנים לצאת, להתנדב, לעזור ולהשפיע. בחייהם של תלמידיו של ישוע יש איזון בין תפילה לבין עשייה פיזית בעבור החלש, ובאיזון זה הם משפיעים ומשנים חיים.

חשוב להבין שאנחנו לא חייבים להתחיל באפריקה כדי להתחיל להשפיע ולהתנדב. אנחנו יכולים להתחיל בכיתה שלנו, ברחוב או בבניין שלנו. מה אתם עושים כשאתם עדים לרוע בעולם? איך אתם מגיבים לכל רוע באשר הוא?

Volunteering and Influencing

 We we’re honored to have Lior speak at our youth group this week. Lior is a professional photographer and videographer that joined a few humanitarian organizations that went out and helped people who were injured in natural disasters. Lior came to Neryah in order to encourage us to live a life of volunteering, service and influence and to challenge us to get out of our comfort zone and give a hand to anyone in need of help.

Each one of us reacts to the tragedies that occur in the world in a different way. Some people ignore the situation and turn the other way, others get down on their knees and start to pray, some post a call for help and prayer on Facebook and there are also the kind of people react to tragedies in the world with fear, anxiety and tears.

There is a small percentage of the population in the world that is not willing to sit by and watch these tragedies take place in the world; these are people that want to see change and are willing to go out and make it happen. This small percentage is willing to put his own comfort aside in order to help someone in need. This willingness is amazing and it makes a difference in the world – in this country and in the one giving. The kinds of people represented in this small percentage have a lot of concern for the weak; they want to help and love on those who are in need, even if it means loving their enemies. They leave everything and go out to a place that has been hit by natural disasters, save lives and help those in need.

As followers of Yeshua, we have the obligation to be part of this small percentage! There is power in prayer and in giving to the weak and needy, but we must be willing to go out, volunteer, help and influence. In the lives of Yeshua’s followers there is a balance between prayer and action, this balance can influence and change lives.

It is important to understand that we don’t need to start volunteering in Africa in order to have an impact. We can start in our own classrooms, cities, on our streets or in our homes. What do you do when you encounter tragedy and evil in this world? How do you react to it?
