Shalom from Jerusalem!
I want to thank you for partnering with us to bring practical hope to people during Rosh Hashanah (Feast of Trumpets).
Last month, we initiated "Operation Hesed!" In this special project, we bless individuals and families with grocery vouchers before the Rosh Hashanah holiday. This year, the project took on a special significance because of the impact that Coronavirus has had on Israel. So many people are struggling right now in Israel: we are in a second full lockdown; the unemployment rate has skyrocketed to almost 5%, which means around 3.9 million people are unemployed; so many small businesses have closed; tourists have not been allowed in the country since March, which has devastated Israel's tourism industry.
The High Holy Days are so important for the people of Israel, which is why this year, “Operation Hesed” was more meaningful than ever. I am so thankful that, with your partnership, we were able to bless hundreds of families and individuals throughout the country. We received a very touching text message from one of the recipients, which I'd like to share with you:
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who had part in the grocery vouchers that we got for Rosh Hashana. I had maxed out my bank account by accident so I had almost nothing to last me for the rest of the month. Then I got the voucher. I was able to buy enough groceries to last me for the rest of the month. Thank you guys!!
You are a part of this important work! I am so grateful for your partnership to bless families and individuals for Rosh Hashanah, the biblical Feast of Trumpets. Thank you again for entrusting your offering to Hope for Israel as we join together to bring hope to the people of Israel!
