Shalom from Jerusalem,
I want to express my deepest gratitude for standing alongside Hope for Israel during these challenging times. Your unwavering support has been a beacon of light for so many in Israel who are walking through incredibly difficult circumstances.
This month, I’d like to share about a project that is particularly close to my heart. Since November 2023, we have been providing daily lunch meals and emotional support to wounded soldiers and their families, five days a week. While hospitals here provide meals for the soldiers themselves, their families—who often stay with them throughout their recovery and rehabilitation—receive no such provision. For many, this creates a significant financial strain, especially as hospital stays can last weeks or even months, depending on the severity of injuries sustained.
Additionally, some soldiers struggle to eat the hospital meals, which can complicate their healing process. To address these needs, Hope for Israel has been purchasing fresh meals from local restaurants (supporting small businesses in the process!) and coordinating their delivery to both soldiers and their families.
The response has been overwhelming. Families have shared their profound gratitude, and even the wounded soldiers themselves have expressed how much this small act of kindness has meant to them. One family wrote to us, saying, “When we felt that we were in our darkest moment, you showed us the light!”
Beyond touching the lives of the soldiers and their families, this effort has also deeply impacted the hospital staff. Time and again, they have shared how encouraged they are by the consistency and commitment of this project, especially as many other volunteer efforts have waned over time.
This initiative has brought hope to many during a prolonged and difficult season. At the beginning of the war, there was an outpouring of help, but sustaining that level of support has become increasingly challenging as we are now over a year into this crisis. Yet, thanks to your partnership, we’ve been able to continue bringing comfort and light to those who need it most.
Thank you, again and again, for making it possible to touch lives in such a meaningful way. Your generosity and prayers are making a lasting impact, and we couldn’t do this without you.
May we soon see brighter and more peaceful days.
