As you may know, I am in the midst of a very busy speaking trip in the USA, where I have the great privilege to share in various congregations throughout the U.S.
Before I left on this trip, I asked the Lord to give me a word for my brothers and sisters in the U.S.; the word was, “Take off your mask.” Before I go any further, it is important for me to make a couple of things clear:
- I believe this word is for all believers and not only those currently living in the USA.
- By writing these blog series, I am not pointing fingers at anyone, but rather believe that each of us must look at ourselves in the mirror and take stock of ourselves individually.
In reference to point number 2, as I travel around the U.S., I see growing frustration amongst believers with the direction that the U.S. has taken. They are genuinely distressed by the godlessness and lawlessness around them. And they are justified in their concern. But the problem is that they are quick to point their fingers at the current administration, the Supreme Court, the school system, and basically towards everyone else but themselves.
If we are to become a conduit for change, we must first take a good, hard look at ourselves. I believe it is time to stop pointing the finger at everyone around us, and instead point the finger back at us. We followers of the Almighty and Living God have forgotten our call to make disciples, to make a difference, and to shine His light in the darkness. We have instead chosen “what’s comfortable for me” at the cost of living totally for Him.
In this upcoming blog series, I will write my thoughts on some of the issues that I believe can change our lives, with the hopes that each of us (including myself) will reflect upon his own personal life, and not be so quick to point fingers at others.
The first reminder on my heart to share is from Romans 14:12, “So then each one of us shall give account of himself to God.” While this verse within its context speaks about judging our brothers, I believe it is wise for us all to remember that the day is coming when each of us will stand before the Lord and give an account to Him. On Judgment Day, we will not be able to say to God, “but”, “well, this is the reason”, “this is what ‘so and so’ did”, “you don’t understand”, etc.
All the excuses in the world cannot justify living a life of disobedience to our Creator!
I encourage you to look at yourself in the mirror, search your heart, and ask the Lord to reveal any area of your life that needs repentance. Tomorrow is promised to no one; today is the day to make a difference in this world.
Shabbat Shalom,
Moran

This reminds me of what a pastor friend of ours used to always say:
“Change ain’t change, until you change!”
