We are just after a month-long celebration of the Jewish High Holy Days. Rosh Hashanah, the holiday that kicks off this season, is a time of joy and celebration. Traditionally, families come together and celebrate the beginning of the Jewish year with great joy and festive meals. However, for many families, this is something they can only dream of. The economic situation in Israel has put many families in a state of poverty, and many families are struggling to put food on the table daily, let alone provide festive meals.
This is where Operation: Hesed enters! This is a large-scale project where we purchased food from a local grocery supplier in Jerusalem in order to assemble a generous package and/or provide grocery coupons to families. This past month, we gave away food packages to close to 1,000 families! God mercifully provided for this project and it touched many hearts.
Something that really touched us at Hope for Israel was the sense of unity that this project brought to all who participated. The entire HFI staff was present to help the people pick up the food. The grocery supplier workers (Jews and Arabs alike) were as excited as we were and worked hard to put the packages together. People came to pick up the food from all over the country – as far south as Eilat and as far north as Mt. Hermon. To see how everyone came together to help those in need was a real blessing!
Hope for Israel spearheads many projects like this throughout the year. Our primary goal is to bless the nation and people of Israel, and extend Yeshua’s hands of mercy to all. If you would like to partner with us to support any of our projects, click here.
May the LORD bless you from Zion!
