Dear Prayer Partners,
Shalom and greetings from Jerusalem! The month of May this year begins with Yom HaZikaron (Israeli Memorial Day) and Yom HaAtsma’ut (Israeli Independence Day) and ends with Shavuot (also known as the day of Pentecost). On Yom HaZikaron we remember all those who have lost their lives to war or terrorism in Israel. On Yom HaAtsma’ut we celebrate the Israeli Declaration of Independence and during Shavuot, we celebrate the giving of the Torah to Moses on Mt. Sinai. As believers, we also remember that it was on the day of Pentecost (Shavuot) some 2,000 years ago that the Holy Spirit filled the disciples and Peter gave a message in which 3,000 people came to faith (Acts 2). Join us in praying this month that many more in Israel will learn of the Holy Spirit and of God’s call for their lives.
Please join us in interceding on behalf of Israel for:
Terror Victims & their Families
As we enter this next month, join us in praying for the family of Elchai Teharlev, who was murdered in a car ramming attack this past month. Also join us in praying for the family of Hannah Bladon, who was murdered by a mentally ill man who carried out a stabbing attack against Hannah in hopes of being murdered by the police after numerous unsuccessful efforts to take his own life. Pray also that those who are currently plotting attacks will have a life-changing encounter with God and come to love those who they once hated. Pray also that “suicide by cop” will not lead to further terrorist attacks and that those mentally unstable persons considering such attacks will receive necessary treatment before anyone gets hurt.
Smuggling
This month, Hamas attempted to smuggle explosive materials into Israel using a cancer patient. Every year, tens of thousands of patients needing the help of Israeli doctors get permission to enter Israel from Gaza. Please pray that Israel will continue to be effective in preventing terrorism from Gaza while also being able to show mercy to those in need of medical attention.
Spies
Iran continues to be Israel’s greatest threat in the Middle East. This past month, Germany released a report revealing a number of incidents in which Iranian spies were caught stealing government records in order to plan attacks against Israelis and Jews throughout the world. Pray that the schemes of all of those who hate Israel will be made known and they will be stopped before they can be carried out.
North Korea
While there is great need for justice to be done in North Korea, the escalations between North Korea and the US could mean a lack of necessary attention from the US in the Middle East. Please pray that as the US faces the threats in North Korea, the war against terror in the Middle East will not fall by the wayside.
French Elections
In the polls for the next French president to be voted into office on May 7th, one of the two most popular candidates is a politician by the name Marine Le Pen, who is known not only for Holocaust denial but also for incitement of hatred against Jews in France. In the presidential race, she has taken a number of measures to win favor even among France’s Jews but there is some concern that her anti-Semitic upbringing, as well as her anti-Semitic history in politics could lead to unforeseen levels of anti-Semitism in France. Although attempting to minimize her anti-Semitic history, she is encouraging France’s Jews to look less Jewish in an effort to justify enacting legislation against the massive Muslim population in France. Please pray for God’s protection for France’s Jews, and for safe return to Israel for those who choose to leave France during these uncertain times. Pray also for the right leader to come to power in France and for divine encounters for that leader that will lead him or her to enact righteous legislation.
Following are some ministry requests for Hope for Israel:
Moran
Pray for wisdom for Moran as he implements important decisions at HFI. Pray for wisdom in his management of his time. Pray for wisdom as he prepares for his summer speaking tour in the US. Pray also for strength and protection for him and his family.
HFI Board
Please continue to pray for God’s guidance concerning the decisions facing the HFI Board. Pray with us that God would continue to provide for each and every need. Pray that God will protect the Board and its members from all attacks of the Enemy against their health, their families or the work they are doing for the kingdom of God.
HFI Staff
Please pray for clear communication between staff and for wisdom and effectiveness in all that we do. Pray for the salvation of those family members of ours who have yet to believe. Pray specifically for those involved in work on our website as we have experienced a number of challenges in recent months. Also, join us in praying for wisdom as we look for new staff.
NerYah Youth Group
Join us in praying for each of the youth to truly grow and flourish in their relationship with the Lord. Pray with us that they will receive a deep and personal revelation of the good news of God’s great love for them. Pray for freedom and a revelation of God’s love for one of the youth who is struggling with depression and many other life challenges. Pray for the youth leaders for greater discernment and creativity in their work with the youth. Please continue to join us in praying for additional youth leaders to join our team: pray that we will get in touch with those who are ready to commit to NerYah and that they will bring a fresh perspective to the NerYah team.
Believing Soldiers’ Outreach
Pray for breakthrough and revelation in the life of each soldier that they will grow stronger in their faith and their identity as they serve in the military. Pray for motivation and energy to make our meetings with the soldiers as engaging and refreshing as possible for the soldiers. Pray that our connection with the soldiers will continue to grow deeper and more impactful as they endure experiences that will challenge their faith. Join us also in prayer for vision and innovative ideas as we build a plan for future work with the soldiers.
Post-military Outreach
Some of those who we’ve been working with as soldiers have recently been released from active duty. Please pray for those young adults to get clarity on what comes next for them. Pray also that they will find much needed support from family and the community of believers as they make this transition.
Tours
We have received a number of inquiries about our tours this past month. Please pray that God will bring the right people for our upcoming tours to receive a revelation of His heart in this land. Please pray that every tour will make an impact on the body of Messiah throughout the world to connect believers with a right understanding of this land and the people who call Israel home. Pray that as we welcome people to Israel we’ll continue to effectively show believers the realities of life in Israel today that are often misconstrued in the media. We’d especially appreciate prayer for this year’s Israel-Greece tour and next year’s Experience Israel tour and Pastors Solidarity tour.
Foundations of the Faith Book
Please pray for the preparation of the English translation of the book. Please also continue to pray that the Hebrew and Russian translations will reach many for the kingdom of God.
In His Service,
The Hope for Israel Prayer Team
