On Sunday, the Israeli-Ethiopian community held its annual memorial day ceremony to commemorate the 4,000 Ethiopian Jews who died on their way to Israel during Operation Moses during a famine in 1984. Despite their good intentions, the immigration authorities didn’t understand the challenges that they would encounter in integrating those who made it into the Israeli society and to this day, some of the older population still do not speak Hebrew. Please pray for comfort for all family members who lost loved ones during Operation Moses and the famine. Please also pray that the Ethiopian Jews today will be treated as equals with equal opportunities in Israel.
