Today is what is technically referred to as the Holocaust and Heroism Remembrance Day. Different countries of the world have different dates for Holocaust Remembrance Day, however this year April 16 in Israel commemorates the loss of six million Jewish lives in the Holocaust of World War II. This was the largest genocidal act against the Jewish people in their history. Most families in Israel today have stories of their ancestors of one to two generations before them who were killed by Nazi forces in the 1930’s and 40’s. Those who survived to tell the stories cherish this memorial day to mourn and celebrate all together with the rest of the Jewish community worldwide. Please pray for all of Israel and others worldwide who experience so many emotions on this commemorative day. Pray for their comfort and pray for God’s hand to be revealed in their lives, both in the past and for the future.
