חכמה מאלוהים

יעקב ג’ 13-18

פסוק 13 פותח בשאלה מאתגרת אל הקוראים, מי מכם מחשיב עצמו חכם ונבון? התשובה לשאלה זו על פי יעקב היא שחוכמתו של האדם משתקפת מתוך התנהגותו החיובית ומעשים בעלי פרי טוב הנעשים ממקום עניו.

בפסוקים הבאים יעקב מלמד אותנו על קיומם של שני סוגים שונים של חכמה ומעיר את תשומת ליבנו להבדלים ביניהם: תחילה ישנה החכמה הארצית שמקורה מן היצר והשדים, ומנגד ישנה החכמה השמימית שמקורה ממעל, מאלוהים. פסוקים 14-15 מזהירים אותנו מן החכמה הארצית שתמלא את ליבנו בקנאה, מריבה ומרירות, וקוראים לנו שלא לרמות את עצמנו ולהחשיבה לטובה. הרגשות השליליים שימלאו את ליבנו בסופו של דבר יובילו אותנו לידי כאוס ומעשי חטא ורוע.

מנגד, החכמה ממעל מקורה מאלוהים ולכן היא טהורה מטבעה ופירותיה הם של אהבה, סובלנות, סלחנות, רחמים, חוסר צביעות ומשוא פנים. כל אלו הן התכונות שיובילו אותנו לקיום עבודת האלוהים האמיתית ויסייעו לנו להתנהל בצורה הנכונה ביותר בקשרים שלנו עם רעינו ועם אלוהים. אנו יכולים לראות בפסוקים אלו כלי פרקטי שיעקב מספק לנו כדי שנצליח לקיים בהצלחה את כל אותם דברים שלימד אותנו לאורך האיגרת עד עכשיו.

 לסיכומו של דבר, עלינו להבין כי החכמה ממעל מקורה טהור, פירותיה טובים והיא זו שתוביל אותנו לקידום מלכות האלוהים בעולם. זוהי חובתנו לבוא לפני אלוהים ולבקש ממנו לזכות בחוכמה שכזו!

God’s Wisdom

James 3:13-18

Verse 13 opens up with a challenging question for the readers- which one of you sees himself as wise? James response is that the wisdom of a man is shown by his good behavior and humble deeds that are bearing good fruits.

In the next verses James is teaching us that there are two kinds of wisdom and he is showing us the difference between the two: first there is an earthly wisdom that comes from selfish ambition and demons. Verses 14-15 warn us of this kind of human wisdom that will fill our hearts with jealousy, conflict and bitterness. We are called not to deceive ourselves by thinking that this kind of wisdom is good.  These negative emotions will eventually lead to chaos and sinful and evil behavior.

One the other hand we have wisdom that comes from God therefore it is pure by nature and its fruits are loving, patient, forgiving, merciful, honest and with no favoritism, these fruits will help us to serve God in the right way and to live rightly with other people. We can see that these verses give a practical tool so we may be successful in fulfilling and keeping all the things that James has called us to do till now in his letter.

In conclusion, we need to understand that the wisdom that is pure, bears good fruits and it will help lead us to take part in the advancing of the kingdom of God here on earth. We must ask God for this kind of wisdom!
