איך להתמודד נכון עם ניסיונות

יעקב א’:2-8

יעקב כותב את האיגרת אל היהודים שנמצאים בתפוצות. הוא מודע לכך שהיהודים עברו קשיים בארץ והינם עוברים קשיים גם כיום בגולה והוא מדריך אותם להתמודד עם הנסיונות והקשיים בצורה נכונה.

הנסיונות והקשיים בחיי היום יום שלנו מכאיבים לעיתים, אך הם נועדו לקרב אותנו לאדון ולהעמיד אותנו ללא מום ביום חזרתו ארצה. הנסיונות בחיינו הם כמו תהליך של צריפת זהב- בתוך האש הרותחת הזהב נפרד מכל הפסולת שיש בתוכו ונוצרת שכבה מושלמת של זהב דרכה ניתן לראות את השתקפותו של הצורף.

כולנו רוצים לגדול באמונה שלנו ובהליכה שלנו בעקבות ישוע והכלי שעושה זאת הינו ניסונות וקשיים ולכן עלינו להיות שמחים בהם. יעקב קורא לנו להיות סבלניים במהלך בחינת וצריפת האמונה שלנו, אך הוא קורא לנו להיות בעלי סבלנות שלמה.

מה ההבדל בין סבלנות רגילה לסבלנות שלמה?

ההבדל  המרכזי בין סבלנות שאינה שלמה לבין אחת ששלמה הינה הגישה בה אנחנו עומדים בסבלנות. אני יכול לעבור את הקושי בגישה מלא בתלונות, בחוסר אמונה ומרירות ופשוט לחכות שהנסיון יעבור או שאוכל להיות שלם בסבלנות שלי בגישה של ביטחון באדון, אמונה, שמחה ודרישה של חוכמה לדעת כיצד לפעול נוכח הנסיבות.

בני ישראל התהלכו במדבר במשך 40 שנה, הם אומנם חכו והיו “סבלניים” (בעל כורחם) אך יחד עם זאת הם התלוננו ללא סוף, היו מלאים במרירות ובחוסר ציות לאלוהים ואף נאפו בו.

יעקב קורא להם גם לבקש באמונה שלמה חוכמה מאלוהים. החוכמה שלנו צריכה להיות בישוע, חייו בעצם מלמדים אותנו איך עלינו להתמודד עם כל מצב בחוכמה ובדרך ה’, משום שהוא התמודד עם כל קושי. עלינו לזכור את הניסיון שישוע עבר במדבר כשהשטן מנסה אותו במשך ארבעים יום. הוא השתמש בדבר אלוהים בכדי להחזיק מעמד ולנצח את האויב. עלינו ללכת בעקבותיו בעתות נסיון וקושי ולהחזיק בדבר אלוהים.

יעקב מתחיל את הקטע הזה בכך שהוא אומר “כשיבוא נסיונות” ולא “אם יבואו נסיונות”, כלומר הנסיונות והקשיים יבואו! ועלינו להבין שהנסיונות והקשיים הינם חלק מחייו של מאמין. אל לנו להתייאש נוכח הניסיונות! אל לנו להסתובב בשעת נסיון עם השאלה התמידית למה זה קורה לי או עם המרירות שקשה לי- יחד עם הקושי והנסיון עלינו לעמוד בסבלנות שלמה כשליבנו מלא בהודיה, באמונה, בדבר אלוהים ובציפייה שנעמוד מול אלוהים ללא כל דופי ביום האחרון!

How to deal with trials

James 1:2-8

In this passage, James is writing to the Jews in the Diaspora. He is aware of the difficulties they went through in the land of Israel and what they are going through now outside the Land. James is instructing them how to cope with these trials and struggles in the proper way.

The trials and struggles of our daily lives can hurt sometimes, but they are meant to draw us closer to God and help us stand blameless for the day when He returns. The trials in our lives are like a process of refining gold- in the hot fire the gold is separated from the impurities and a perfect layer of gold is conformed, allowing you to see the reflection of the goldsmith.

All of us need to grow in our faith and our daily walk in Yeshua and the way God does it is through trials and struggles, which is why we are to rejoice in them. James instructs us to be patient through this refining process; he calls us to be patient to the fullness.

What is the difference between patience and patience to the fullness?

The main difference between these two is the attitude we hold while going through a trial. You can go through trials with an attitude that is full of complaints, lack of faith, bitterness or simply wait until the trial passes. Or you can be patient to the fullness and have an attitude of trust in God, faith, peace and seeking the Lord for wisdom on how to handle these present circumstances.

The people of Israel walked through the desert for 40 years, yet while they waited to enter into the Promised Land they didn’t stop complaining, they were full of bitterness and disobedient to God.

James instructs his readers to ask for wisdom with complete faith from God. Our wisdom should be in Yeshua. His life teaches us how we should deal with every situation in wisdom and in the way of the Lord, for he was also tested and trialed. We need to remember the trials that Yeshua went through in the desert while the Enemy was tempting him. He used the Word of God to stand firm and overcome the Enemy’s temptations. We are to walk in his footsteps in times of trial and struggle, holding onto the Word of God.

James starts this portion by saying, “When you face trials” and not, “If you face trials,” meaning that trials and struggles will come! We need to understand that these are part of life for followers of Yeshua. We mustn’t give up in the face of trials! Let us not walk around with the question, “Why is this happening to me?” or full of bitterness. With every hardship, we are to stand with patience to the fullness with our hearts full of thanks giving, faith, the Word of God and with the expectation of standing blameless before God in the last days!
