Unseasonably Wet Weather Causes Flooding and Accidents

A wave of unseasonably wet and cold weather hit Israel over the last days of Pesach. Temperatures dropped below freezing at Mt. Hermon, thunderstorms and hail raged in the center, and deadly flashfloods hit the desert, notably around Eilat. A brother and sister died in the floods, and dozens more have been rescued from their water-filled cars. As a result of the flooding, authorities temporarily closed highway 90, leading to Eilat, cutting off the southern city from the rest of Israel and stranding thousands of holiday makers.

In the center, the surprising turn of weather caused several serious car accidents, including a fourteen-car pileup on highway 1, between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The accident injured 31 people, who are in light to moderate condition. Thankfully, no one was killed. Meanwhile, snow is falling on Mt. Hermon!

Please pray for the family of the two siblings who were killed, and for the recovery of the injured. Please pray for safety for those who must travel through the weather. Lastly, please pray that the rains, however unexpected, will bless Israel.
