The South African government has withdrawn its support of reigning Miss South Africa, Lalela Mswane, because she refuses to boycott the Israeli-hosted Miss Universe pageant. The SA government withdrew its support of Ms. Mswane in “an act of solidarity” with the Palestinian people, whom the SA government claims are victims of apartheid. South Africa has a long history of support for the Palestinian people, as many perceive Israel’s treatment of Palestinians as reminiscent of the country’s apartheid crimes against its Black population. Israel denies it maintains an apartheid policy against Palestinians. To date, there has been no response from Ms. Mswane regarding whether or not she will still participate in the pageant. Please pray for strength and wisdom for Ms. Mswane, that she will do the right thing and not participate in a boycott of Israel. Please also pray that the efforts of people to boycott Israel will be futile, and that Israel will do more to defend itself against such slander.
