Riots Across Israel

Wednesday afternoon, riots were raging in two parts of Israel for two very different reasons. In the Palestinian village of Turmus Ayya, near Ramallah, right-wing settlers burnt Palestinian cars and homes. The attack was a vigilante retaliation for the violent terrorist shooting Monday, in which Palestinian gunmen killed four Israelis and injured four more. The riots are the latest event in a series of bilateral escalations this week and prompted numerous additional online threats from Palestinian groups.

In parallel, in northern Israel, the Druze community is protesting a governmental decision to erect wind turbines on Druze land throughout the Golan Heights. The protests, which turned violent, are a result not only of a contested decision, but also of years of policies which sideline Druzi interests, according to community leaders. Over a dozen police officers and at least two protesters were injured in the clashes.

Please pray for a restoration of calm and for justice in both situations. Please pray for the financial recovery of those who have lost property. Lastly, please pray that events this week in Judea and Samaria will not cause any further escalations.
