Putin Demands Russian Church in Jerusalem

Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded that Israel hand over the Alexander Nevsky Church, in the Old city of Jerusalem. This was apparently something that former Prime Minister Netanyahu had promised to Putin while in office. Ownership has not been transferred due to an Israeli court order that the current government would make that decision. Putin’s sudden demand is a sign that diplomatic ties between Israel and Russia are deteriorating over Israel’s increasingly critical stance on its invasion of Ukraine. Please pray for wisdom for Israeli PM Bennett in this delicate situation. Please also pray for a satisfying solution to be found in this specific instance. Lastly, please pray that Israel will be able to maintain important security ties with Russia despite the current tensions.
