Prayer Focus: Standing in the Gap

This Week's Urgent Prayer Needs

  • Pray for the people of Israel as we approach three years since the October 7 massacre. Pray especially for the families of those who were murdered, the former hostages and their families, the wounded, and the many people throughout Israel who continue to carry the physical and emotional scars of that day. As memorial ceremonies and gatherings take place throughout the country, pray for the families who will once again face the anniversary of the day that changed their lives forever. Pray also for the soldiers and security forces who continue to protect Israel on every front. Pray that the people of Israel would seek the one and only true God and find their strength and comfort in Him.
  • Give thanks for the lives of the passengers and crew aboard flydubai Flight FZ1073 and pray for Captain Smit Machachar as he recovers from the serious injuries he suffered during the attack. Pray also for the passengers and crew who experienced the fear and trauma of those moments. As the investigation continues in the United Arab Emirates, pray that the full truth would come to light concerning Hamam al-Hamami, the warning signs in his past, how he was permitted to fly to Israel, and whether he acted alone or others were involved. Pray that any failures in aviation security would be identified and corrected, and for the protection of Israelis traveling throughout the region and around the world.
  • Pray for the soldiers serving on the Gaza Front as Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad continue attempting to rebuild their capabilities. Pray for accurate intelligence and that terrorist leaders, weapons networks, rocket and anti-tank cells, and other efforts to prepare future attacks would be exposed and stopped. Pray for the former hostages and for the families of those who were murdered or died in captivity as more information emerges about the Hamas commanders responsible for holding Israelis hostage. Pray also for innocent Palestinian civilians in Gaza who continue to suffer after years of war, and that those who are not involved in terrorism would be protected from further harm.
  • Pray for truth concerning the reporting and international understanding of the war in Gaza. The IDF has released evidence identifying 170 people who were presented as journalists or media workers but who, according to the military, were also members of terrorist organizations, including 17 who participated in the October 7 attack. The IDF has also issued a detailed response to the film NAZA, disputing allegations concerning civilian casualties, artificial intelligence, and the process used to approve strikes. Pray that all of these claims and evidence would be examined honestly. Pray that genuine mistakes or violations would be properly investigated, while false or misleading accusations would be exposed. Pray for journalists, world leaders, pastors, educators, and others whose words influence what people believe, that they would carefully examine the facts before repeating or sharing information.
  • Pray for Israel’s northern and northeastern borders following the first known direct talks between Syria’s new government and Hezbollah. Pray that Hezbollah’s efforts to smuggle weapons through Syria, maintain terrorist cells, and rebuild military capabilities near Israel’s border would be exposed and stopped. Pray for the protection of Israel’s northern communities and the soldiers serving along the Syrian and Lebanese borders. Pray also for innocent Lebanese and Syrian civilians who continue to live with the consequences of years of war, terrorism, Iranian influence, and the military activities of Hezbollah and other armed groups.
  • Pray for former hostage Eli Sharabi and the other survivors of Hamas captivity. Eli was held for 491 days. His wife, Lianne, and daughters, Noiya and Yahel, were murdered on October 7, and his brother Yossi was also kidnapped and later killed in captivity. As Eli has now brought his testimony before the United Nations Human Rights Council, pray that the world would listen to what the hostages endured, including starvation, beatings, humiliation, and abuse. Pray that those responsible would be held accountable, and for continued healing and strength for the former hostages and their families.
  • Pray that money given to help innocent civilians would not be diverted to Hamas or other terrorist organizations. Following the indictments in the United States involving an alleged fundraising network that prosecutors say transferred more than $1.7 million to Hamas, pray that terrorist financing networks would be exposed and dismantled. Pray for wisdom and discernment among churches, ministries, charities, and individuals who genuinely desire to help civilians in Gaza, and that humanitarian assistance would reach the people for whom it is intended.
  • Pray for Israelis and Jewish communities around the world as hostility toward Israel continues to appear in public life, online, and in international sports. Pray for the Israeli national football team as it prepares to play Ireland in Serbia behind closed doors following protests surrounding the match. Pray for the safety of the players, staff, and Israelis traveling to the match. Pray also for the protection of Israeli travelers and Jewish communities, synagogues, schools, community centers, and Israeli diplomatic missions throughout the world.

Civilians

  • Pray for the protection of Israeli communities living under the constant threat of terrorism, missiles, drones, and other security challenges, and that families throughout the country would experience God's peace in the midst of uncertainty.

  • Pray for innocent civilians throughout the Middle East who continue to suffer because of war, terrorism, and regional instability. Pray especially for those whose lives may be affected by renewed conflict involving Iran, that they would be protected, receive the assistance they need, and one day live without fear of violence or oppression.

Soldiers and Security Forces

  • Pray for the physical protection, emotional resilience, and spiritual strength of Israeli soldiers serving on every front, and that God would give them wisdom and clarity in every difficult decision they must make.

  • Pray for the families of Israeli soldiers who have given their lives defending the nation, and for all families grieving loved ones lost through terrorism and regional conflict. May the Lord strengthen and comfort them in their grief.

Leadership

  • Pray that Israel's leaders, together with leaders in the United States and other nations, would be granted wisdom, discernment, and moral clarity as they make decisions affecting the future of the region.

  • Pray that diplomatic efforts concerning Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran would lead to genuine security, verified disarmament, and accountability rather than temporary arrangements that allow terrorist organizations or hostile regimes to rebuild and prepare for future attacks.

Truth and Justice

  • Pray that the truth about terrorism, antisemitism, and the suffering of innocent people would be reported honestly and accurately throughout the world.
  • Pray that antisemitism, hatred, intimidation, and the glorification of terrorism would be exposed, rejected, and lose their influence in politics, education, the media, and online platforms.
  • Pray for the protection of Jewish communities, including synagogues, schools, community centers, universities, and public gatherings around the world.

  • Pray that the Royal Commission examining antisemitism in Australia would uncover the truth, lead to meaningful accountability, and result in stronger protection for Jewish communities.

Healing, Restoration, and Hope

  • Pray for the complete healing of wounded soldiers, terror victims, former hostages, and everyone carrying the physical and emotional scars of war.
  • Pray for those struggling with trauma and PTSD, including soldiers, veterans, survivors, children, and families whose lives have been deeply affected by the events of October 7 and the months that followed.
  • Pray for those who have returned from captivity, that the Lord would restore them physically, emotionally, and spiritually as they rebuild their lives and begin sharing their experiences.
  • Pray for the families mourning the loss of loved ones, that God would sustain them with His comfort, strength, and hope.

Unity and Spiritual Awakening

  • Pray for unity among the people and leadership of Israel, that division would not weaken the nation during this critical time.
  • Pray that believers throughout Israel, both Jewish and Arab, would be strengthened in their faith, remain united in Messiah, and continue shining as a testimony of God's love and truth during these difficult days.
  • Pray for people throughout Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, and across the Middle East to turn to the God of Israel, discover the hope found in the Messiah, and experience His peace, truth, and salvation.

  • Pray for younger Jewish generations throughout the Diaspora, that they would grow in their understanding of their heritage, remain connected to Israel, and stand courageously against antisemitism and hatred.

Looking Forward

  • Pray that God would grant Israel genuine and lasting peace founded upon security, justice, and truth rather than temporary quiet.
  • Pray that the Lord would continue to strengthen His people with hope, perseverance, wisdom, and unwavering faith for every challenge that still lies ahead.
