New Government for Israel

Yair Lapid of the centrist party, Yesh Atid, has succeeded in forming a new government. Naftali Bennett will be the next Prime Minister, and Lapid will replace him after two years. For the first time in history, an Arab party will sit in the government – this is truly historic. Here is the breakdown by party in the new Knesset: Yesh Atid has 17 seats; Benny Gantz’s Blue & White has eight seats; Labor, Yamina and Avigdor Liberman’s Yisrael Beytenu each have seven; Gideon Saar’s New Hope and Meretz under Nitzan Horowitz have six apiece; and Ra’am has four. Please pray that as Israel enters this new era, we will see a greater understanding between all citizens of Israel – Jewish, Muslim, Christian, and everything in between. Please also pray that traditionally underrepresented people groups in Israel will be more engaged in society, and find more opportunities to succeed in all areas of life, especially as this new government sits. Lastly, please pray for progress in crucial issues that affect all Israelis but have been ignored for many years.
