Judicial Reform Debate Returns

Following the successful passing of a national budget last week, the Knesset will return to debating the controversial judicial reform. The reform, which focuses on the balance of power in the Israeli government, triggered massive protests throughout January and February until the legislation was halted at the end of March. Legislators have since been engaged in closed-door negotiations over the content of the bill.

The reform is a complicated issue that excites emotional responses from both sides of the political aisle, and which triggered extreme unrest during the three months immediately following the government’s swearing in. Both sides have reasonable arguments, but the biggest danger is the split in Israeli society.

Please pray for unity in Israeli society. Please pray for a constructive end to the judicial reform negotiations. Lastly, please pray for a path forward that seeks truth and the betterment of all Israelis.
