Israeli Couple Released from Turkish Prison

An Israeli couple held on charges of espionage were released after a few days of intense diplomacy on their behalf. The couple were arrested in Turkey after allegedly taking photographs of President Tayyip Erdogan’s residence during a trip to Istanbul. This caused a diplomatic crisis between Israel and Turkey, intensifying an already strained relationship. Turkish media joined calls to free the couple, calling their arrest “a disgrace”. PM Bennett sent a senior emissary to Turkey to help work for their release. Israelis have flocked to Turkey for vacation for decades, but in recent years, Erdogan’s harsh stance on Israel has caused Israelis to shy away. Israelis are now even more cautious about traveling to Turkey. Please pray that relations between Israel & Turkey will return to what they were in previous years. Please also pray for wisdom for Israeli officials as they continue to face difficult diplomatic challenges with other countries in the region. Lastly, please pray for safety of Israelis traveling throughout the world, especially as tourism slowly opens up.
