Israel Restricts Travel to Africa

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett accepted the Health Ministry’s recommendation to restrict travel to South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Eswatini and Namibia. This is the result of a new Coronavirus strain that has been discovered in the region. The strain is said to be more virulent than other strains, and has been reported to evade vaccine protection. South Africa’s National Institute For Communicable Diseases (NICD) so far reported 22 confirmed cases of the new strain and said that health authorities were rushing to complete its genetic sequencing to better understand its implications on public health. Please pray that this new strain will not enter Israel, and if it does, that those infected will be isolated quickly. Please also pray for wisdom for Israeli officials as they continue to face tough decisions about combatting COVID in Israel.
