Israel and Hamas Reach Ceasefire Agreement

Overnight, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas collectively fired over 100 rockets towards Israel’s border communities from the Gaza Strip, wounding at least three people and causing extensive property damage. The rocket fire comes after PIJ leader Khadar Adnan died in custody after an 86-day hunger strike. Israel responded by striking numerous Hamas military targets in the Gaza Strip. A ceasefire was mediated in the early hours of the morning by Egyptian, Qatari and UN diplomats.

Although the IDF lifted restrictions on Israeli residents of border communities, a spokesperson for the IDF said that all options remain open should the terrorist factions in the Gaza strip resume fire. Neither Israel nor Hamas appears interested in a larger-scale conflict at the moment.

The mayor of Sderot, a border community, and Israeli coalition politician Itamar Ben Gvir both blasted the government for the “weak” response to the rocket fire.

Please pray for healing for the injured. Please pray for a restoration of calm and for renewed deterrence against further attacks. Lastly, please continue to pray for peace and unity for Israel.
