In the Words of US Vice President Mike Pence

Here are 6 quotes from Pence’s speech in the Israeli parliament on Tuesday that are encouraging for those of us praying for the Word of God to guide the American policy regarding Israel…

  1. It is deeply humbling for me to stand before this vibrant democracy […] to be […] here in Jerusalem, the capital of the State of Israel.
  2. It is the story of Exodus, a journey from persecution to freedom, a story that shows the power of faith and the promise of hope…
  3. And so we will pray for the peace of Jerusalem…
  4. As I stand in Abraham’s Promised Land…
  5. The Jewish people held fast to a promise through all the ages, written so long ago, that “even if you have been banished to the most distant land under the heavens,” from there He would gather and bring you back to the land which your fathers possessed. Through a 2,000-year exile, the longest of any people, anywhere, through conquests and expulsions, inquisitions and pogroms, the Jewish people held on to this promise…
  6. God bless the Jewish people, God bless Israel…

Not once in his speech did Pence diminish in any way the blessings he spoke over Israel. All of his words simply recognized the truth about this nation and the Jewish people and asserted American interest in upholding and strengthening the bond between the US and Israel. Notice that in his speech Pence…

  • Leaves no question as to his support for Israel in recognizing Jerusalem as its capital.
  • Recognizes and honors the biblical history of Israel (the Exodus from Egypt).
  • Asserts that America is praying for the peace of Jerusalem (as encouraged by Psalm 122:6)
  • Recognizes that Israel is the land promised to the Jewish people since ancient times and that the promise has remained intact through the ages.
  • Recognizes God’s promise through Abraham to regather Israel from the furthest places and to bring them back to Israel (Deuteronomy 30:1–5).
  • Blesses Israel as a Jewish state.

As we move forward, let us pray that God will truly empower the United States to stand strong with Israel and to continue to recognize God’s intentions for this land.
