“Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep” Psalms 121:4

Last Monday, July 21st, we gathered our youth group with other believers from the Body of Messiah across the country for a prayer meeting concerning the current situation in Israel. In a time that our soldiers are fighting and most of the people in Israel are stuck to TV screens watching the news, we chose to rise up and cry out to the One to whom our eyes are lifted!

The prayer meeting was really blessed. Every person who participated came out encouraged and uplifted as we worshiped the LORD- the keeper of Israel, the Name above all names. We kept proclaiming from the story of David and Goliath, “You come against me with a sword and a spear and a javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty. The God of the armies of Israel will overcome, the God of the armies of Israel will arise and his enemies be scattered!” It was such a special time for us!

In the midst of the chaos ensuing our nation, we sometimes forget to include God and His truth. This was a good opportunity to remember who our God is and declare His word!

One of those attending from Tel-Aviv commented about the prayer meeting, “I loved the attitude and the atmosphere in the room while praying for the situation; an atmosphere of love and peace, praying in God’s perspective and not in an earthly way!” He added, “We didn’t ask God to kill but rather for His justice to be done and for salvation for both Israelis and Palestinians.”

In the end of the meeting, we were encouraged to pray and ask God for big miracles. We felt God calling us to envision and dream BIG, believing for God not only to end the war but to achieve great things in the lives of people on both sides of the conflict.

We do not serve a small God! Let us remember He is great and in Him there is victory, wisdom and salvation!
