Palestinians in Gaza are fed up with Hamas storing weapons in civilian areas. Recently, a fire in a centrally-located home where weapons were stored caused an explosion, killing one and injuring 14. The storage of weapons in civilian areas and public places, such as hospitals and schools, is considered a war crime. Yet, no international body has officially held Hamas accountable for doing this very thing. A Palestinian human rights organization, Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights, released a statement last week that said, “Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights in Gaza views the explosion incident with grave seriousness, as there have been repeated incidents of internal explosions in houses in overcrowded residential neighborhoods for various reasons in the past, which resulted in the killing of a number of civilians and the destruction of homes and public and private properties…” They are calling for a public inquiry into this and other similar incidents that have taken place. Please pray that Hamas and other militant organizations operating in the Gaza Strip will be held accountable for endangering citizens in this manner. Please also pray that more Palestinians will have the courage to speak out against the oppression of Hamas, without fear of retribution. Lastly, please continue to pray that Gaza will be free from Hamas or any other terrorist entity!
