Israeli Defense Minister, Benny Gantz, suggested that there is place in Jerusalem for a Palestinian capital. In an interview with the Saudi Arabian paper, Asharq al-Awsat, Gantz is quoted as saying that Jerusalem is a “spacious city that is full of sites which are sacred for all”. This comes at a time when Israel is encouraging Palestinians to return to the table for peace negotiations. The “two states for two people” has lost traction in recent years, and the situation is only deteriorating with the pandemic.
