In July of this year, an anonymous woman who had previously served as a prison guard at Gilboa Prison in northern Samaria came forward and testified that she had repeated been sexually assaulted by a high-security prisoner with the full knowledge of her commander. Following this horrifying revelation, an investigation was launched, revealing that shockingly, close to 40% of women serving in Israeli prisons, either in the IPS (Israeli Prison Service) or in the Israeli Police have experienced some form of sexual harassment during their tenure in the prison system. Some women report being assaulted by prisoners, while others report abuse by male colleagues. Please pray for healing for the women victimized. Please pray for justice for perpetrators, whether guards or prisoners. Lastly, please pray for an immediate change in the system that allowed such atrocities to take place.
