אל הקולוסים ב׳ 6-19
הדברים העקרים שנאמרים לנו בפסוקים אלה הם: להיזהר שאף אחד לא יוליך שולל ולא יטעה אתכם ושאיש לא יחרוץ משפט.
    הסכנה הראשונה נמצאת בפס׳ 8 ״היזהרו שאיש לא יוליך אתכם שולל בפילוסופיה ובתעתועי הבל על פי מסורות של בני אדם על פי עקרי העולם ולא על פי המשיח״ שאול מתכוון פה למורי שקר לרוב מורי שקר לא יצאו בהצהרה שקרית גדולה אלא זה שינוי קטן שמשיק לאמת אך אינו נכון עלינו לא להיות שאננים ״הוי השאננים בציון…״ (עמוס ו׳ 1). הסכנה הגדולה זה לתת מקום למסורות ולצורה שבה אנחנו בתור בני אדם חושבים במקום מה שדבר אלוהים אומר.
      הסכנה השנייה נמצאת בפס׳ 16 ״לכן איש אל יחרוץ עליכם משפט על דבר מאכל ומשקה או על דבר מועד ראש חודש או שבת״. המסורת נותנת לגיטימציה לשפוט ולקבוע שמישהו מסוים הוא טוב או חוטא על סמך חוקים שאנחנו קבענו.
    בפס׳ 6 נאמר ״לכן כשם שקיבלתם את המשיח ישוע האדון כן התהלכו בו״ ההליכה עם ישוע זה חסד וזה לא הצטדקות שלנו על ידי מעשים ״דבר אחד רוצה אני שתודיעוני האם בשל קיום מצוות התורה קבלתם את הרוח או בשל שמיעה שבאמונה? האם כסילים אתם כל כך?…״ (גלטים ג׳ 2-3). אנחנו יכולים לרצות את האדון רק בחסד לא בגלל התנהגות.
     בפס׳ 7 כתוב ״כשאתם מושרשים ונבנים בו, מבוססים באמונה לפי מה שלמדתם, ושופעים הודיה״ שאול מתאר את הקולוסים בפעלים סבילים (משרש, נבנה, מבוסס, יולדתם). אלוהים הוא זה שפועל בחיים שלנו ולא אנחנו. כל מה שנשאר לנו זה להודות לאלוהים על הפעולות שלנו בחיינו ״שופעים בהודיה״.
      המשיח הוא כל מה שאנחנו צריכים. אנחנו לא צריכים כלום חוץ מהאדון. המוות הוא רווח—בשבילנו הוא ויתר על הכול למעננו. אלוהים השאיר את כבודו ונהיה כמונו עבד, בן אדם. בפסוקים 10-15 אנחנו קוראים שאלוהים בא לשכון בנו. הוא טיהר אותנו, המית אותנו לחטא, הקים אותנו, העניק לנו חיים רוחניים, סלח לנו על חטאינו, הסיר מאתנו אשמה והעניק לנו ניצחון שמעיד על שלטונו המוחלט של דבר אלוהים בחיינו.
      יש לכולם חירות. אלוהים לא אוהב דתיות. הוא אוהב אמונה, שימוש במצפון ולא בחוקים. אנחנו נהיה צבועים אם נעבוד אותו בפה ולא בלב ״ויאמר אדוני יען כי נגש העם הזה בפיו ובשפתיו כבדוני ולבו רחק ממני ותהי יראתם אתי מצות אנשים מלמדה״ (ישעיה כט 13). כשאנחנו נשענים על חוקים אנחנו חוזרים לצל במקום להיות באור. אסור לנו להתנשא, לשפוט או להישפט על פי אמות המידה שלנו אלא על פי אמות המידה של אלוהים מול אלוהים.
      בפסוקים שקראנו שאול מציג שתי בעיות שקשורות לתורות שקר אנחנו עלולים לאמץ פילוסופיות ואורח חיים של העולם במסווה של תפיסות משיחיות. אנחנו עלולים לחשוב שאנחנו יכולים לרצות את אלוהים במעשינו.

צריך לזכור שלושה דברים:

1. המשיח הוא הבסיס לחיינו ולאמונתנו.
2. אנחנו לא זקוקים לדבר אם יש לנו את המשיח.
3. הבשורה משחררת אותנו מהתורה ומתלות במעשים וכמו שהיא משחררת אותנו היא משחררת אחרים.

Colossians 2:6–19
The main points in these verses are: beware that no-one misleads or deceives you and that no-one is unfairly judgmental of another.
     The first danger is found in verse 8: “See to it that no-one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world rather than according to Messiah.” Paul is referring to false teachers here who don’t represent the truth rightly. Amos 6:1 says “Woe to those at ease in Zion”. False teachings can make us comfortable with living in a way that doesn’t align with the Word of God.
     The second danger addressed in these verses is found in verse 16: Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or the Shabbat”. We can’t judge others according to our man-made traditions.
     In verse 6, we read “Therefore as you have received Messiah Yeshua the Lord, so walk in him”. Walking with Yeshua is possible by the grace of God and not by merit of our own accomplishments. It’s worded this way in Galatians 3:2–3, “…did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Torah or by hearing with faith?… Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?
     In verse 7, it’s written: “…having been firmly rooted and now being built up in him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.” Notice that Paul describes the Colossians passively (rooted, built up, established). God is the one who is at work in our life and not us.
     The Messiah is everything we need. There is nothing we need aside from the Lord. Death abounds because of sin, but Yeshua has overcome sin and death. In verses 10–15, we see that God has come to dwell within us. As believers, he has purified us and we have joined him in his death and resurrection. He has forgiven us of our sins, cast away from us all guilt and given us total victory that testifies to our total surrender to the Word of God in our life.
     All of us are offered freedom in Messiah and freed from the bondage of this world. He loves when we have faith and when we use our conscience. We are hypocrites if we put outward observance of law above faith. Isaiah 29:13 says “this people draw near with their mouth and honor Me with their lips, but they remove their hearts far from Me, and their reverence for Me consists of tradition taught by men.” When we lean on outward obedience to laws without faith inside, we return to the dark rather than remaining in the light. We must not judge by the standards of this world, but according to God’s Word.

We need to remember 3 things:

1. The Messiah must be central in our life and faith.
2. If we have the Messiah, we lack nothing.
3. The Gospel frees us from false righteousness and attempts at salvation by works and releases us to do good works in the strength of Messiah.
