This week a deadly confrontation occurred near the Arab village of Burqa, killing a Palestinian man and injuring a Jewish settler. Police took into custody two settlers involved in the incident, including the injured man who shot the Palestinian. Unfortunately, while the seriousness of this situation is more unusual, clashes between rock-throwing Palestinians and vigilante settlers are fairly frequent.
According to reports, the clash developed after several Palestinians confronted a Jewish shepherd, who called for help. The situation deteriorated rapidly as Palestinians threw rocks and shot fireworks into the crowd. Ultimately, after being hit by a rock, the settler fired at one of the Palestinians, killing him.
The incident reportedly took place on private Palestinian land, where the shepherd’s flock was grazing.
Please pray for healing for the injured. Please pray for peace between Palestinians and Israelis in Judea and Samaria. Lastly, please pray for wisdom for security officials to prevent these sorts of clashes.
