The nation of Kuwait has recently put forward a proposition for a UN Protection Force for Palestinians. While such a force in the Judea and Samaria region would be a violation of Israeli sovereignty, deploying such a force in Gaza could prove beneficial as it might lead to peacekeeping that could put a damper on Hamas incitement of Gazans while sparing Israel from the need to shoot at would be border-breechers. The resolution in its current state will most likely be vetoed by the US since Kuwait is proposing measures that would violate Israeli sovereignty, but pray that a revised version might actually allow for UN intervention in Gaza that involves riot control and other peace keeping measures that go beyond the UN’s current “observation” role in the region.
