4th Elections Averted

Israel’s government leaders avoided plunging the country into its fourth election in less than two years by postponing a deadline for passage of a national budget in the parliament. By law, a budget must be passed by August 25th in order to avoid automatic elections. Both PM Netanyahu and Defense Minister, Benny Gantz, encouraged their parties to back a proposed law delaying passing the budget by 120 days. Announcing elections at this point would potentially trigger a violent uprising throughout the country, where there is already high tension between people who support Netanyahu and those who do not. Please continue to pray for Israel during this season of great instability. Please also continue to pray for wisdom for Israel’s leaders, and that they would seek the good of the citizens versus their own political gain.
