July 2020 Update

Shalom from Jerusalem!

It's hard to believe we are halfway through 2020 and that the academic year is already over. It has been a tough year no doubt, especially for the youth of the NerYah youth group that we oversee. Our last in-person meeting was mid-March, and because of Israel's strict guidelines on group gatherings plus a resurgence of the Coronavirus in Jerusalem, we felt it wise to continue the virtual meetings. We closed out the academic year with a virtual meeting the last week of June, and are hoping to bless the youth with an in-person end-of-year celebration this month (restrictions permitting).

I want to thank our coordinators Zechariah, Efrat, and Helen, and the leadership team, Gabriel, Rachel, and Hodaya, for their dedication and perseverance this past year! This year, my son joined the youth group, and the amazing change I witnessed in his life was a direct result of these leaders' guidance, prayer, teaching, and commitment. He couldn't wait for Thursday evening each week when he got to meet with kids his age to fellowship, pray, and worship! I know that this time will continue to impact his life for years to come, and I am so grateful.

I'd like to share some comments we received from some other youth from this year's group:

    • "Neryah is a place where we see service to the Lord in spirit and humility. I wait for Neryah all week! Thank you for everything you do for us youth...you all are the best!"
    • "God changed me [through Neryah]. He slowly has healed me of anger and guilt. This year, I was so tempted to give up, but at Neryah, I had people to share my challenges and my past with. I so want to come next year! Thank God for Neryah!"
    • "Through Neryah, God made me know that I was valuable."
    • "Neryah helped me deal with different challenges and gave me strength. I grew stronger in my faith!"

Thank you for partnering with us to nurture & strengthen the believing youth of Jerusalem! We are planning a vibrant summer program, with hopes that restrictions will continue to ease and that the youth can continue to have fellowship during the summer months. Thank you again for entrusting your offering to Hope for Israel as we join together to bring hope to the people of Israel.
