Violence Among Arab-Israeli Communities

It is estimated that there are as many as 60,000 unlicensed firearms in Arab-Israeli towns and villages. A study completed a couple of years ago found that the rate of shooting crimes in the Arab sector was 17.5 times that of its Jewish counterpart. Often, these crimes go unsolved because Arab communities often obstruct police investigations due to family ties to those guilty and the strong sensitivity to shame in Arab communities. One common motive for murder in Arab communities is when a woman is believed to have brought shame to the family and so is murdered. Please pray for justice and better protections of Israel’s Arab population against violence.
