Israel released two Syrian prisoners as a goodwill gesture for the return of fallen IDF soldier’s remains. Zachary Baumel, z”l, died in action in Lebanon in 1982, but his body was never returned to Israel for proper burial. President Putin of Russia brokered an exchange of the two prisoners in return for Baumel’s body. This raises concerns over prisoner swaps, which have encouraged kidnapping of Israeli soldiers and citizens in the past. Please pray that Israel will not return to the process of prisoner exchanges, as it endangers the lives of its citizens!
