Emergency Rooms in Israel

One major issue facing Israel today is that many hospitals are not equipped to handle the quantity of patients that are coming to them. Especially troubling is the situation in many of Israel’s Emergency Rooms which are typically between 130% and 140% full. Israel Medical Association Ethics Bureau Chairwoman Dr. Tami Karni estimates that Israel’s hospitals will need an additional 6,000 beds as well as twice as many doctors in order to keep up with minimum ethical standards for medical treatment of patients in a timely manner. Some hospitals can take as long as 6 to 12 hours to treat patients in the ER depending on how life-threatening their injuries seem. Please pray that as the elections draw near in Israel, we will see these much needed changes in Israeli hospitals and soon.
